Lennox HVAC Age: How to Find Year Of Manufacturer

This quick reference shows you how to determine your Lennox ac age. Lennox ac age typically lasts 10 -15 years, but there are instances when they can last much longer. Like most things, usage, maintenance, and installation type will determine how long the unit last.

Lennox HVAC Age

You can determine the age by locating the serial number on the data plate. Every Lennox air conditioner has a data plate displaying the unit’s information. On the data plate, you will see other information, such as:

  • Lennox model numbers
  • Lennox serial number identification
  • Lennox HVAC Tonnage, Capacity
  • Volts – AC, Upper, and Lower Watts
  • Manufacturer Location

There are four different styles of Lennox serial number lookup age. It looks like this:

  • Style 1:     1708A138 or 1234A123456
  • Style 2:     A123456AAB
  • Style 3:     12A34 BA012
  • Style 4:     1234567890
Let’s break down how to read each style of the serial number to determine the Lennox HVAC age that you may be looking at:
  • Style 1:    1234A56789 or 1234A123456

The week of the manufacturer is the 3rd and 4th numerical digits

The year of manufacture is the 5th character letter digit

A – January         B – February      C -March

D – April               E – May              F  – June

G – July                H – August          J – September

K – October         L- November      M – December

  • Style 2:     850304091

The 1st-2nd four digits represent the year of the manufacture. The third digits represent the year. (See Chart)

The day of manufacture is the 1st-2nd numerical digit

The year of manufacture is the 3rd character digit – See Chart

The year of manufacture is the 4th-5th numerical digits reversed.

Knowing Lennox furnace models by serial number is not something that we keep top of mind. Still, we should check in occasionally and ensure maintenance is happening regularly. When you know the age of your air conditioner units, you can plan accordingly. Both units should be replaced at the same time to ensure you have the best efficiency from the units on the unit list.
