American Standard air conditioners typically last 10 -15 years, but there are instances when they can last much longer. You can determine the age by locating the serial number on the data plate. Every Rheem air conditioner has a data plate displaying the unit’s information. On the data plate, you will see other information, such as:

- American Standard HVAC Tonnage, Capacity
- Volts – AC, Upper, and Lower Watts
- Manufacturer Location
There are five different styles of American Standard serial number lookup age. They look like this:
- Style 1: 1234ABW3G or Style 1a: 12345ABDAA
- Style 2: A91-12345
- Style 3: 012345678
- Style 4: 91J-12345-01
- Style 5: A1234ABCDF

The week of the manufacturer is the 3rd and 4th numerical digits
The year of manufacture is the 1st numerical digit. The date of the manufacture is coded for the years 2000 thru 2009.
- Style 1a: 12345ABDAA
The week of the manufacturer is the 3rd and 4th numerical digits
The year of manufacture is the 1st and 2nd numerical digits. The date of the manufacture is coded for the years 2010 and beyond
- Style 2: A91-12345
The month of the manufacture can be decoded in the chart below using the 1st letter digit of the serial number.
The year of the manufacture is the 2nd and 3rd numerical digit
