Easy Fix for Repairing Damaged Door Hinge

I recently came across what I believe to be the best easy fix for repairing damaged door hinge. Many homeowners that have children have most likely had a hinge or two damaged at some point and that’s what happened to us. My son has a carpet in his room that was placed behind the door after he decided to do some rearranging of his space and being a little lazy he forced his door open over the rug and broke the hinges.

We had no idea how to repair these hinges considering you don’t have much room to work with once they are damaged. I’m a Youtube fanatic so I did some searching and came across a few videos that used similar methods but the one I decided to with was using golf tees and gorilla glue to make the repair. The tools you will need are the following:

1. Hammer
2. Guerilla Glue
3. Wooden Golf Tees

I’m assuming you still have all the hinge components but if not you will need to add the hinges and hardware to the list. All these items can be found on Amazon. com for less than $50 dollars.

Easy fix for repairing damaged door hinge steps:

Step 1 – Remove the damaged hinges and hardware

Step 2 – Take golf and dip it in the guerilla glue

Step 3 – Hammer the smaller end of the golf tee into each of the hinge screw holes

Step 4 – Snap off the excess golf tee (ensure the area is flush after you snap off the golf tee so the door is flush when you attempt to re-install

Step 5 – Repeat the previous steps until all holes that need to be repaired are filled on the trim and door

Step 6 – Allow 1-2 hours for drying time or as needed

Step 7 -The area should be dry.  Re-install the hinges

And there you have it, an easy fix for repairing a damaged door hinge. You don’t have to be very handy to complete this repair but if you don’t feel comfortable completing it yourself seek out a handyman to assist you.
